Live multiplayer rooms

Party Mode: how to play

Create a private room, share the 9-digit code and play live against up to five friends in Flag Draw, Outline Draw, Geo Click, Border Clash or City Collector.

What is Party Mode?

Party Mode lets a group play the same challenge at the same time, each on their own device. One person creates a room and becomes the host. Everyone else joins with the 9-digit room code. A room holds up to six players and needs at least two to start.

The host picks one of five modes. In Flag Draw, Outline Draw and Border Clash everybody draws the same target and the closest drawing wins. Geo Click is a race to click a named country on a world map. City Collector is a three minute scramble to claim cities by typing their names.

How to play

  1. 1Press Create Party on the home page, type your name (up to 20 characters), choose a game mode and press Create Room.
  2. 2Share the 9-digit code shown in the waiting room. Tapping the code copies it.
  3. 3To join instead, type the code into the boxes on the home page or the code field in Party Mode, enter your name and press Join.
  4. 4Wait in the room while players gather. The host (marked with a crown) can still change the mode, and picks the country for Flag Draw or Outline Draw.
  5. 5When the host presses Start Game, play the round on your own screen. In drawing modes, press Submit or let the timer submit for you.
  6. 6Check the results podium for the ranking. After drawing rounds, a gallery shows what each player drew.
  7. 7For another game with the same players, the host presses Play Again on the results screen. Everyone returns to the waiting room and the host can change the mode and start again.

Scoring

Flag Draw and Outline Draw give each player a score out of 1,000 for how closely the drawing matches the real flag or country shape. You have 90 seconds, and the round ends early if everyone submits.

Border Clash shows two neighbouring countries as one grey shape, and you have 90 seconds to draw the border between them. The score out of 1,000 is the share of the real border your line stays close to.

Geo Click plays 10 countries with 15 seconds each. Only the first player to click the right country scores: 1,000 points for an instant click, falling steadily to 100 at the end of the timer.

City Collector runs for 3 minutes on a shared map. Each accepted city is worth one point, and a city can only be claimed once in the room.

Tips

  • In Geo Click, a wrong click locks you out for about a second, which is usually enough for someone else to win the round. Be sure before you click.
  • In City Collector, every city counts the same whatever its size. Type the famous capitals first, before your opponents take them.
  • City Collector only accepts cities in Europe, Asia and North America (the United States, Canada, Mexico and Greenland). Skip South America, Africa and Oceania.
  • In Border Clash, only coverage of the real border counts. A line that runs the full length beats a careful line that stops halfway.
  • In the flag and outline rounds, the hint button shows a faint guide of the target and does not reduce your score in a party game.

What you learn

What you practise depends on the mode. Flag Draw trains flag colours and layouts, Outline Draw trains country shapes, and Border Clash trains where one country ends and its neighbour begins. Geo Click trains finding 30 major countries on a world map at speed, and City Collector rewards recall of city names.

Questions and answers

Can someone join after the game has started?
No. A room only accepts new players while it is in the waiting room. A seventh player is told the room is full.
What happens if the host leaves?
The room stays open and the player who joined next becomes the new host, with the crown and the game settings.
How long does a room code work?
The code stops accepting new players roughly 30 minutes after the room is created, and a room also closes when the last player leaves. Players already in the room can keep playing rematches. Create a new room if someone new needs to join after that.

Try next

  • Geo Click

A name appears and you click the matching country, US state or capital on the map. Found places stay blue until the whole map is complete.

  • Border Clash

Two neighbouring countries are merged into one shape. Draw the missing border between them and score up to 1000 for accuracy.

  • City Collector

Type the names of cities and towns to pin them on the map and add their population to your total. No timer, no penalties.
